What is the Raiffeisenbank CHYTRÝ account
CHYTRÝ účet ("Smart Account") is a personal current account from Raiffeisenbank, offered primarily to new bank customers. Its main selling point is completely free account maintenance with no conditions attached, plus a choice of one of three bonus programmes for customers who actively use the account for card payments. It suits people who simply want to switch banks without monthly fees and unnecessary conditions, as well as those who want to earn an extra reward from their everyday card spending.
Fees and account maintenance
Opening, maintaining and closing the CHYTRÝ account is free, with no conditions attached — this isn't a "0 CZK" fee that only applies once a minimum deposit or turnover is met, as is common with competing offers. The bank issues one Visa Classic debit card free of charge with the account. ATM withdrawals are free both in the Czech Republic and anywhere in the world — free withdrawals abroad are still more the exception than the rule for current accounts, so this is a genuinely useful benefit for customers who travel often or pay in foreign currency. Raiffeisenbank also offers an interest-free reserve (overdraft) of up to 1,000 CZK free of charge. It isn't a full consumer loan or a large amount, but rather a small safety net against an unintended, short-term overdraft, with no interest or fee charged on it.
Card-payment bonus: three options, one condition
New customers who open a CHYTRÝ account can choose one of three bonus programmes. The condition is the same for all three: pay by card at least ten times in a given month.
- 6× 500 CZK — up to 3,000 CZK total, paid out in six monthly instalments of 500 CZK, provided the customer meets the ten-card-payments condition in that month.
- 50% cashback on online subscriptions, such as Netflix, Spotify, OpenAI and other participating services, up to 500 CZK per month for 12 months.
- 10% cashback on groceries, at retailers such as Albert, Lidl, Rohlik.cz and other participating stores, up to 500 CZK per month for 12 months.
The offer is only available to new bank customers and cannot be combined with the earlier "6× 500 CZK" promotion — according to the product terms it currently runs until 31 December 2026, leaving plenty of time to decide and open the account.
It's worth distinguishing how easily the stated maximum amount can actually be earned under each option. The first option is the simplest to evaluate: the customer receives a fixed 500 CZK reward for every month in which they pay by card at least ten times — no further calculation, no dependence on how much is actually spent in a specific category. For someone who already pays by card several times a week, this is effectively a guaranteed 3,000 CZK over six months of ordinary card use.
Both cashback options are more complex. To actually reach the monthly cap of 500 CZK under the 50% subscription cashback, a customer would need active online subscriptions totalling 1,000 CZK per month — for typical streaming and music services, which usually cost a few hundred crowns each per month, that's beyond what a typical user actually pays. Similarly, reaching the same cap under the 10% grocery cashback would require spending 5,000 CZK per month just on purchases at participating retailers. On paper, the cashback options look more generous than the fixed reward (up to 500 CZK a month for 12 months, theoretically up to 6,000 CZK a year), but the amount most households will actually receive will be lower — the headline 500 CZK figure is a cap, not a guarantee, unlike the fixed 6× 500 CZK option.
Before choosing an option, it therefore pays to first work out actual spending. Anyone unsure how much they spend monthly on subscriptions or groceries at participating retailers should lean towards the fixed 6× 500 CZK reward — it's simpler to evaluate and carries no risk of disappointment from a low cashback payout. Conversely, a household that already regularly pays for several streaming services or spends larger amounts on groceries by card may genuinely get more than 3,000 CZK out of a cashback option, provided it can repeatedly hit the 500 CZK monthly cap across all 12 months.
Who is this account for
The CHYTRÝ account is primarily interesting for new Raiffeisenbank customers who regularly pay by card and want an account with no maintenance fees whatsoever. The fixed 6× 500 CZK reward suits those who prefer a simple, predictable reward without having to track how much and where exactly they pay by card — it's enough to maintain ten payments a month. The cashback options, on the other hand, are better suited to people with higher, regular spending on online subscriptions or groceries at participating retailers, who are willing to route some of their regular payments through this card to get more out of the cashback than they would from the fixed reward.
How to open the account
The account can be opened online via Raiffeisenbank's website or mobile app — the link on the offer page leads directly to an account-opening form labelled "Otevřít účet" ("Open account"). The specific steps of the process (identity verification, signing the contract) aren't spelled out in detail on the offer page, but with online banking the actual opening should be a matter of minutes without needing to visit a branch.
Since the offer targets new bank customers only, existing Raiffeisenbank customers cannot activate this particular bonus — different, current bank conditions may apply to them instead, which are outside the scope of this review.
Pros and cons
Summary
The Raiffeisenbank CHYTRÝ account is a free current account with no hidden maintenance conditions, a free Visa Classic card, free ATM withdrawals worldwide, and a small interest-free reserve of up to 1,000 CZK. Its added value is the card-payment bonus — the 6× 500 CZK option offers the most easily achieved, guaranteed 3,000 CZK, while the cashback options can pay out more if monthly spending on subscriptions or groceries is high enough, but only if the customer actually reaches the 500 CZK monthly cap, which for typical household spending will be the exception rather than the rule. Anyone looking for a fee-free account with a predictable reward for everyday card use will find the CHYTRÝ account a solid choice — bear in mind the offer is only for new customers and only runs until 31 December 2026.
