mKonto by mBank: a checking account with no fees and no conditions
mKonto is mBank's basic personal account for people who want a simple bank account with no monthly fee and no strings attached to keep it that way. Unlike many competing offers where free account maintenance depends on a minimum monthly card turnover or a regular incoming deposit, mKonto charges zero maintenance fee with no catches at all. It's therefore a better fit for clients who want the certainty that the account will never suddenly start costing them money than for those chasing a large welcome bonus.
Fees and conditions
Opening and maintaining mKonto costs CZK 0, with no conditions attached — there's no requirement to send a minimum monthly deposit or make a certain number of card transactions. All domestic incoming and outgoing payments are likewise free, including instant payments, for which mBank states a limit of CZK 400,000 per payment and a combined daily limit of CZK 1,000,000.
ATM withdrawals are free both domestically and abroad when you withdraw more than CZK 1,500. Withdrawing less than that triggers a CZK 29 fee. This is the one thing mKonto customers should watch out for — frequent small withdrawals (below CZK 1,500) can add up in fees, while larger withdrawals are free anywhere.
The account comes with a basic mKarta debit card, which is also free of any monthly fee and any minimum-turnover condition — the same no-catch approach as the account itself: no hidden condition you need to track to avoid the card starting to cost you money.
Welcome bonus and other features
There is currently no welcome bonus advertised for opening an mKonto account — neither the product's database record nor the current content of mBank's own page mentions any sign-up bonus. So if you came across mKonto expecting a one-off reward for switching, no such promotion is running for this particular account right now. Worth keeping in mind when comparing it against accounts from other banks that do currently run bonus campaigns — mKonto builds its value purely on zero, unconditional fees rather than a welcome premium.
On the payments side, the account also covers instant payments within the limits mentioned above, which is useful for customers who need money to arrive within seconds rather than by the next business day.
Who mKonto is a good fit for
mKonto suits clients who want a checking account with nothing to keep track of — no minimum card turnover, no mandatory deposit, no risk of the bank suddenly charging a maintenance fee because a monthly condition wasn't met. It's also a sensible choice for people who typically withdraw cash in larger amounts (above CZK 1,500), since those withdrawals are genuinely free — customers used to frequent smaller withdrawals below that threshold may find another bank's account cheaper for that specific habit. Given the current absence of a welcome bonus, mKonto isn't the strongest pick for clients primarily looking for a one-off cash reward for opening an account.

Summary
mKonto is a straightforward offer with no hidden conditions: the account and its basic card are free for good, domestic and instant payments are free within the stated limits, and ATM withdrawals are free above CZK 1,500. What it currently lacks is any welcome bonus, so if you're comparing accounts mainly by sign-up reward, mKonto won't win on that front — its strength lies in simplicity and zero, unconditional fees.
