Komerční banka's Personal Loan for Any Purpose

Půjčka na cokoli ("Loan for Anything") from Komerční banka is a classic unsecured, purpose-free consumer loan for people who need a lump sum of cash without having to tell the bank what it will be spent on. That can mean renovating a flat, buying a car, financing a holiday, consolidating smaller debts held elsewhere, or any other planned or unplanned expense. It's offered by one of the largest banks operating on the Czech market, which in practice means a wide branch network plus a well-developed internet and mobile banking platform, where the application can often be completed without visiting a branch at all if the client already holds an account with the bank or can identify themselves electronically.

The product is built as a broad, general-purpose solution for a wide range of applicants — the offered amounts and repayment terms cover everything from small, short-term help to considerably larger loans comparable in size to part of a mortgage. That breadth is one of the product's main competitive strengths, discussed in more detail below.

Interest Rate and APR

Komerční banka advertises an interest rate from 4.99% p.a., fixed for the entire repayment period — meaning it does not change over the life of the loan regardless of how market rates move. For the client this means predictability: the monthly instalment stays the same from signing until the loan is repaid, so it can easily be planned into a household budget without any risk of it rising due to changes in the interest-rate environment.

It's important, though, to distinguish between the advertised lowest rate and the rate an individual applicant will actually receive. According to figures the bank itself publishes on its offer page, around 56% of clients qualify for a rate of up to 5.9% p.a. — in other words, more than a quarter of the remaining applicants can expect an even higher rate, and the advertised minimum of 4.99% p.a. genuinely applies to only part of them. The final rate depends on an individual assessment of the applicant's creditworthiness, the amount requested, and the chosen repayment term, so the actual offer can only be confirmed after submitting an application.

A more reliable guide to the real cost of the loan is therefore the APR (RPSN), which — unlike the interest rate alone — also includes other costs tied to the loan, in this case chiefly a one-off application-assessment fee. In the bank's representative example, described below, the APR comes to 5.13%. When comparing offers between banks, it's always better to rely on the APR rather than the nominal rate alone, since two loans with the same interest rate can end up costing differently once fees are factored in.

Total Cost

The bank's own representative example gives a concrete sense of the cost: for a loan of CZK 1,000,000 repaid over 8 years (96 monthly instalments), with a fixed rate of 4.99% p.a. and an APR of 5.13%, the monthly instalment comes to CZK 12,764. Over the full repayment period the client would pay the bank a total of CZK 1,215,325.23 — roughly CZK 215,000 more than they originally borrowed, which corresponds to interest plus the application fee spread across the eight years of repayment.

Keep in mind that this is a legally required model example built on specific input assumptions (a specific loan amount, a specific repayment term, and a specific approved rate), not a guarantee that every applicant will get exactly these terms. With a different loan amount, a shorter or longer repayment term, or a different individually assigned rate (see the 56%-of-clients figure above), the resulting monthly instalment and total amount repaid will differ — the representative example mainly serves as a like-for-like way to compare offers between banks under the same model conditions, not as an exact calculator for every individual applicant.

The loan also carries a one-off application-assessment fee of CZK 850, payable when the loan is arranged and already included in the APR figure above. By contrast, maintaining the loan account is free for the entire term of the agreement, and so are extra payments on top of the agreed repayment schedule and early repayment of the entire remaining debt. That's a meaningful advantage from the client's point of view — with many other loan products, early repayment is either charged for or at least restricted by conditions, whereas here the client can repay the remaining debt penalty-free as soon as they have the funds, saving on future interest.

Requirements and Optional Insurance

The loan can be arranged for an amount of up to CZK 2,500,000, with a repayment term ranging from 3 months to 8 years (96 months). That's a fairly wide range and allows the loan's parameters to be tailored to a specific need — a shorter repayment term means a higher monthly instalment but lower total interest cost, while spreading repayment out to the maximum 8 years lowers the monthly burden on the budget at the cost of a higher total amount repaid. According to information published by the bank, clients can also set the specific size of their monthly instalment according to their current means, giving room to adapt repayment to an individual financial situation.

Clients can optionally add payment protection insurance to the loan. This is a supplementary product, not a condition for the loan itself being approved — the client decides for themselves whether to add it, and not taking it out should not affect the advertised interest rate. The bank does not publish the exact price of this insurance or its precise coverage on its public offer page, so this review does not state one either — anyone interested should check the insurance terms directly when arranging the loan.

Summary

Komerční banka's Půjčka na cokoli is a standard purpose-free cash loan with a competitive lowest rate of 4.99% p.a. and an APR of 5.13% in the bank's representative example, backed by free account maintenance, free extra payments, and free early repayment of the entire loan — something that's still more the exception than the rule among large banks. The breadth of amounts on offer (up to CZK 2,500,000) and repayment terms (3 months to 8 years) gives clients room to fit the loan's parameters to their own situation.

The key thing to keep in mind is that the advertised lowest rate of 4.99% p.a. is not guaranteed to every applicant — according to the bank's own figures, only part of its clients reach it, while most of the remaining applicants with a rate of up to 5.9% p.a. end up with something higher. The actual offer always depends on an individual assessment of creditworthiness, the amount requested, and the chosen repayment term. For clients with a good repayment history and a stable income who also value being able to repay the loan early without any penalty, this is a solid choice; anyone hunting for the absolute lowest APR on the market should still compare the offer against competing banks.
